Citi Credit Card

When you are shopping for a certain Citi credit card, it is important to keep a few things in mind.  No matter if you are paying for your lunch at a ballgame, books for school, or medicine at a pharmacy, nothing is easier than using a Citi credit card.  The main concern is how to get the best rate and select the correct card for you, because credit card companies are extremely competitive.

Companies are fighting for your business with increasingly tempting offers, like interest-free introductory periods.  With these different rates and features, choosing a card that fits you can be difficult.  The card that is best for you depends on how you want to use it.

Some people only use a certain credit card for ID when making reservations.  The important features for these cardholders would be general acceptance of that card and the annual fee.  For those people who choose to pay off their balance every month, the main priority is to be sure that a card has a grace period and to know the length of that period.  Another very important feature would be the annual fee and other subsequent charges such as transaction fees, over-the-limit charges, and late charges.  These holders would want a Citi credit card with no annual fee. Sometimes the most important factor to someone would be the credit limit.  If you sometimes have an unpaid balance at the end of the month you would want a card with as low of an interest rate as possible to go along with a grace period.  If there is not a grace period, you would have to pay interest on the outstanding balance whenever you use the card.

Some people will always have an outstanding balance, so their most important concern is how the interest is calculated.  They will never be able to benefit from a grace period because of the outstanding balance.  The method used to calculate the interest will make a huge difference in how much of the finance charge is paid.  Banks typically charge 2.95% for their finance charge.  Others, such as SBI and ICICI Bank, might charge 2.50%, while American Express charges 2.75%.  Checking with Citi could save you money on these rates.

Most companies will add on a charge of an annual fee, which can be accompanied by the initial membership fee and a host of other service charges.  This can make your bottom line increase a lot, so make sure you check these out before you select a card.  Also, don't subscribe to a card just because it doesn't charge the annual fee.  The company's other fees, such as late fees and over-credit-limit fees, more than likely add up to way more in the long run.  With a Citi credit card, you can by pass many of those fees.

Most card issuers will tell you in the brochures that liability for a lost card is $1,000.  Make sure that this is applied after it is reported to the bank.  The liability is actually unlimited before it’s reported.  Stay away from banks that make you responsible for card misuse after reporting it.  With the Citi credit card, this isn’t a concern, though.

Another important consideration to keep in mind is the grace period associated with each credit card.  This is largely dependent upon when the statement comes in every month.  Most credit cards will give you at least 20 days to pay off your balance before you incur finance charges.  Certain Citi credit cards will have a statement date that allows you a little bit more flexibility.  If you’re interested in taking advantage of a longer grace period, then be sure to do some research prior to getting the card to make sure of what you’re getting.
