Gas Rebate Card

A gas rebate card is one of the best ways to save money on your gasoline expenses in today’s society.  There is no denying the fact that gas is expensive right now.  We are all paying more than we can afford to fill up our vehicles with the fuel they need to function.  Yet, we must still drive, so this expense is a necessary one.  By using a gas rebate card to fill up your car with gasoline, you can help combat the ever-rising cost of gasoline by getting some money back every time you fill up.

To sign up for a gas rebate card, you can start by choosing the gas station you will use the most often.  This station is the one you want on your card, because you will get the biggest rebates when you refill at this station.  Make sure that it is convenient to your house and the places you travel on a regular basis.  Also, you may want to make sure that the station you choose has a good presence in any of the places you travel, as many chains are not nation wide.  Once you have chosen a station, find out if they have a gas rebate credit program.  Most stations, particularly those that are spread across the country, do have these programs.

If you prefer not to be locked in to using one specific station, you can find a gas rebate card that can be used for any gasoline purchase.  Many of the major credit card companies also offer gas rebate programs in response to the rising cost of gas.  These programs allow the user to accumulate rebate points any time gasoline is purchased, no matter what station is used.

A gas rebate card helps you earn cash back when you purchase gasoline at the store you have chosen.  In other words, a certain percentage of all of the gasoline purchases you make returned to you.  The rebate is usually given in the form of a credit on your bill.  Sometimes it is a check or a gift certificate to a gas station or some other retailer.  This means that the gas you are putting in your car is actually cheaper than it would be if you did not have the card.  The percentage can range from 1% to as high as 5%, with the average being around 3%.  A gas rebate credit card is different than other credit card cash back programs because the reward is usually delivered monthly.  Also, these cards only accumulate rewards when gas is purchased, not when other items are purchased.

There are a few considerations that you need to make when shopping for one of these cards.  First, keep in mind that you may have to spend a certain amount of money each month or each year to qualify for the cash back reward on your gasoline purchases.  Also, some of the programs that are offered by the gas stations themselves actually give you the discount at the pump, instead of offering it as a rebate.  This can help your day-to-day budget, but it does not give you the satisfaction of getting that check in the mail or that credit on your bill when you have accumulated enough rewards points.

Keep in mind, also, that carrying a high balance on your card can eat into your savings.  If you are paying high interest on that balance, the amount you get back from your rebate will go right back on the card as you pay down the additional cost of the interest.  However, if you use the card wisely and pay most of it off every month, you can save quite a bit of money with a gas rebate card.  If you are tired of paying too much for your gasoline, get a gas rebate credit card and start saving money!
